Wall Street painted green
The bull run continued on Wall Street yesterday, as all three US indices closed at all-time high levels. The SPX500 and the DJ30 broke the mental milestones of 3,000 and 27,000 respectively, and now all eyes are set on the NSDQ100 – will it break 8000 today? Yesterday’s rally was largely fueled by gains from the tech and medical sectors, as Nvidia registered another 3.79%, 3M added 1.97% and Cigna Corp surged 8.89%.

Today’s highlights: Bitcoin back $11K levels, Gold finds support at $1,400
Trump “is not a fan” of cryptocurrencies: US president Donald Trump said yesterday that “unregulated crypto assets can facilitate unlawful behaviour, including drug trade”. In addition, Trump addressed Facebook’s future cryptocurrency, Libra, and suggested that “If Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they must seek a new Banking Charter”. These statements drove Bitcoin’s price further down to $10900, and altcoins reacted accordingly – Ethereum is now traded around $266 and XRP at around $0.32.
Gold bounces of $1,400: The precious metal had a volatile trading session yesterday. After rising as much as 1.2% to $1,427, news of the USD “making a comeback” edged gold down to $1,400 before settling at $1,406.
Oil trades higher: The black gold has registered close to 8% in the past week. Yesterday’s gains were tributed to Iran-UK tensions and the tropical storm “Barry”, which may cause a shutdown in the crude oil production of the Gulf of Mexico.
Paypal continues to climb: The online payment company registered another 1% yesterday. Paypal, a company that usually avoids the spotlight, has slowly but surely surged over 50% this year alone.
Volatility expected for USD: Monthly Producer Price Index reports are due in the US at 13:30 GMT, potentially generating volatility for the greenback.
Europe opens mixed: The UK100 opened 0.15% lower, the GER30 is up 0.34% and the FRA40 opened 0.25% lower.
